“The Right Shoes?” by Dianne H. Timmering

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.”   So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.  Jeremiah 18:1-4

He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. John 15:2

As a follow up to yesterday’s devotion, someone suggested that if we are uncomfortable in our shoes, so to speak, perhaps we are not in the right shoes, or that God is pruning, molding, sculpting. Ask Him; He will tell you. God bless your day.

“Where Do I Belong?” by Dianne H. Timmering

You are the children of the LORD your God . . . for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession.  Deuteronomy 14:1-2

I recently had a friend tell me that he did not feel like he belonged in this world and he had great sadness. I suggested that he did have a toe in this world, have a purpose, a destiny, a reason for being, for the beauty of his creation because this friend was a part of the beauty of God’s creation, a steward over many, a steward over few.

If you are having the same thoughts, let me say that, I understand.

But you do belong. Once you find that place, you will feel at peace with all. Your place is your journey, the beginning path of which God is directing. Step into it and find the longing belonging peace that you seek. Ask Him, Who am I, Where do I belong? What do you want me to do God? Why do I feel such discomfort in my shoes? Why do I feel I don’t belong? Help me to find the comfort in your arms, the desires of both of our hearts so that we are unified in being and doing. Help me to find You, dear Lord.

“Love Swells” by Dianne H. Timmering

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.   Ephesians 4:2

A labor of love swells in the breeze of the gentle wind and flows into you for the peace of knowing it was a good week. Well done, good and faithful children, God says. Sew fierce peace into a knowing that I have resolved all issues. My grace and mercy steep you in My knowing, not false assumptions, but the truth of knowing that I am with you. Keep going with My joy along the path, He says. Let us hold hands; let us do great things together. All is well.

“The Conflict Is His” by Dianne H. Timmering

As for all the inhabitants of the mountain regions from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, . . .  I myself will drive them out before the Israelites. Be sure to allocate this land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have instructed you . . . Joshua 13:5-6

This scripture is set during the time when Joshua and the Israelites were driving out the inhabitants of their new territory. Joshua had grown old and there was still much land to conquer. I was intrigued where God says, I myself will drive them out and it struck me that the battle is truly the Lord’s. He Himself drove out the Sidions without the help or need of the army. Dear Lord, we stand beside you in courage, for the conflict is yours to withstand, to resolve, to win. Love to all.
