Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshipped, each at the entrance to his tent. The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Exodus 33:10-11
The golden bird is back. In its reflection it seeks desperately to get through my office window. It pounds with its beak, flings its wings against the silvery reflection which must look like open sky. Is there a message in this again today? Is God searching out my attention where I am not giving it? Is God asking me to pray, to seek out a trembling smile; is He seeking a sought away moment; is He reminding me not to worry; is He beseeching peace or replenishing joy?
Just as the bird seeks the open world through the mysterious glass, its reflection makes me smile, and I look up at Him. I am here, God says. I am here. I am. All is well.
